ACT IV

SCENE I:BRAD, TEACHER and COURTNEY look the same as before. NEWSPAPER GIRL is wearing jeans and a t-shirt with something in German on it. TEACHER is currently talking about the French and Indian War, or the Lewis and Clark expedition, or German Kaisers, or some other such history-type subject. THE CLASS looks very bored and a few people who were paying attention in the last act are now doodling on pieces of paper, passing notes, or just staring into space. A fly is buzzing in the corner and more kids are watching it more than they're watching the teacher.

A loud bell like an alarm clock rings.

COURTNEY and the rest of THE CLASS jump up and run to the door. THE CLASS starts automatically talking, yelling, laughing, and doing whatever else they usually do after school when the bell rings.

TEACHER holds out the newspaper article to COURTNEY as she passes.

TEACHER: Courtney, here is your article back.

COURTNEY grabs the newspaper article and runs away.

COURTNEY: Thanks!

COURTNEY goes down the hall with the flow of kids. She gets out of the school doors and runs a few blocks to the newspaper stand.

Kids from THE CLASS (just three at the most at any given time) are walking in random directions into, out of, through the camera view.

COURTNEY: Hey, Brad! I'm here!

BRAD laughs.

BRAD: Geez, what took ya so long? Ha, just kidding! So what's up?

COURTNEY: Let's find the mystery of the Zombie's Hood.

BRAD: Woah woah, that sounds a little--

COURTNEY: But it says right here, where Eliza's mother lives! We could start there and--

BRAD: Okay fine. But if we get in trouble, I'm blaming it on you...

COURTNEY: Fine. So let's go.

BRAD and COURTNEY run off in the same direction.

NEWSPAPER GIRL: Hey, aren't you going to buy a newspaper?

Camera waits a second and switches to Act V.
